MICHAEL BERKE
CONTROLLER
Responsibilities
Michael Berke is Controller at Eidco Construction. He is responsible for all of company's financial statements and accounting activities including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and tax compliance issues.
Experience
From 2004 until he joined Eidco, Mr. Berke was a real estate controller and broker for Berke Properties, Inc. His responsibilities included managing accounting activities and performing all accounting, budgeting, vendor management, cash flow projections, financial analysis and human resources functions. He also prepared financial statements and ensured compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
As a broker/owner, he performed due diligence, financial analysis, investment summaries and marketing plans as well as structured and negotiated deals for retail, multifamily and residential communities and land.
Mr. Berke has also served as Vice President/Chief Financial Officer/Controller at Berke Homes, Inc., where he succeeded in helping the company grow to projects of $20 million and $30 million. His diverse responsibilities included creating and implementing proper accounting processes, controls and procedures for each project, preparing financial statements and reports and identifying and analyzing potential acquisition and development opportunities. He was also a financial analyst for NBD/First Chicago Bank.
Awards and Affiliations
Mr. Berke is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design – Accredited Professional (LEED AP). He is Past President and Treasurer for the Highland Park Hospital Foundation Jr. Board, a Licensed Illinois Real Estate Broker, a U.S. Green Building Council-Chicago Chapter Committee member, board member for the Shaare Zadek Medical Center, and a USA Maccabi Golf Team member.
Education
Mr. Berke earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Iowa and a Bachelor's degree from Indiana University in Marketing. He also completed Illinois Continuing Graduate Real Estate Studies at DePaul University.
